Does this state require Home Inspectors to be licensed?
Yes, there are two levels of licensure:
- Associate Home Inspector
- Home Inspector
Are there any educational requirements to be licensed?
There are three routes to meeting the licensure requirement for home inspectors. One route requires home inspectors to "have education and experience the Board considers to be equivalent to subpart a of this subdivision." Subpart a requirements are as follows: "Have a high school diploma or its equivalent, have been engaged as a licensed associate home inspector for at least one year, and have completed 100 home inspections for compensation."
Is there a state exam requirement to be licensed?
Yes, all home inspector licensees must pass the Board prescribed examination.
Are there any experience requirements to be licensed?
There are three routes to meeting the licensure requirement for home inspectors. One route requires that licensees have completed 100 home inspections for compensation.
Are there any other requirements to be licensed?
- Submit application and associated fees
- Have a minimum net assets or a bond in an amount determined by the Board. The amount may not be less than $5,000 or more than $10,000
When do the license expire?
All licenses expire two (2) years after its date of issuance.
Are there any Continuing Education requirements to renew a license?
All licensees must complete 12 hours of approved continuing education each renewal cycle. The same elective continuing education course may be taken only once during any three year period.
